Writing is scored from 0 to 6, the verbal reasoning sections are graded 130-170, and the two quantitative reasoning sections are scored from 130-170. The test can be taken on a computer or on paper. Each section focuses on specific skill sets which are required if a student wishes to pursue graduate education. The verbal reasoning section asks questions designed to test reading comprehension, the ability to fill in words or phrases which make a text coherent given the information which follows the blank, and sentence equivalence problems. The quantitative reasoning section tests topics such as high school and college math, data analysis, geometric figures, and coordinate systems.
